Estemerwalt Log Homes Manufacturing Facility

Styles, Profiles & Sizes

As you begin to shop for you new home, it’s likely that one log corner style or profile will seem more attractive than others. If you are drawn to D logs or large Round logs, then Estemerwalt Log Homes offers the look you want. Just to clarify your options:

  • Milled-D Logs: These are round on the exterior of the home and flat on the interior of the home, hence why the profile resembles a D. We manufacture 6x8 and 8x6 milled D logs with a double tongue and groove sealant system.
  • Round Logs: This offers the beauty of the round log profile both inside and out. What sets us apart in the Northeast is our ability to offer larger diameter logs than many of our competitors. Round logs are available in 8-inch, 10-inch, and 12-inch diameters. The larger diameter of logs not only offer a more dramatic appearance, they can also increase energy efficiency of your home. We offer either a log-on-log look or a chinked style for a more historical appearance.
  • Half Logs Profiles: Using logs to frame garages, outbuildings and horse stables can get costly, which is why Estemerwalt Log Homes also offers half log siding. This offers the look of logs at a fraction of the cost—only your builder need know your secret.

Estemerwalt Log Home Package

Estemerwalt Log Homes creates one of the most comprehensive log home packages in the industry. Our home packages consist of everything needed to create the dried-in shell of the structure (although less inclusive packages can be created to suit your individual needs). Our packages includes log walls, first floor system, tongue-and-groove paneling for ceiling and walls, interior stick frame walls, Anderson 400-series windows, ThermaTru Doors, complete roof system and decking, as well as caulking, to protect your home from Mother Nature’s wrath.

What Don't We Include?

You and your contractor will need to obtain a number of other building materials locally to complete your home and earn a certification of occupancy from your local building department. This includes the foundation, garage doors, cabinetry, electrical, plumbing, fixtures, flooring, HVAC and appliances. For a more detailed list of what we do and do not include in our home package, call at 800.515.2060.

Estemerwalt Log Homes Tree Species:

We offer Eastern White Pine, which is one of the most durable wood species on the planet, naturally resistant to decay, UV damage and insects. It also offers minimal shrinkage compared to other log species.

Estemerwalt Log Homes Building System

Lake ViewSince logs twist, shrink and settle as they reach a new equilibrium with their environment after they are harvested, we have invested decades of research and experience in creating a building system that accounts for this shrinkage—while keeping your home snug and cozy.

To start, the structural integrity of our logs is ensured through inspection by a third party agency, namely Timber Products Inspection Inc. or TPI. To ensure an energy efficient home and a tight fit between log courses, we use a double tongue-and-groove log connection system, combined with gaskets, splines and caulk or chinking. Our fastening system uses lag bolts (for D logs) or through-bolts (for round logs), which are periodically tightened by you or your builder over the first two heating seasons to allow the logs to settle naturally. Finally, we provide a complete construction manual so your contractor will have all the information at their fingertips to construct the home to exact tolerances.

Studies have shown that the thermal mass value of our logs helps homes stay warm in winter and cool in summer. This also means your home can equal or surpass the energy efficiency of conventionally built stick frame homes.

Delivery of your Home Package

We can arrange the delivery of your home package when your builder needs it. We can even stage deliveries—offering the first floor, for example, or the second floor when you need it—which will reduce your need to protect and store the logs from the elements at your job site.

Who Will Build My Home?

Estemerwalt Log Homes doesn’t offer full turnkey construction of your log home. However, we can furnish you with a generous list of experienced contractors who specialize in building our homes around the U.S. We encourage you to involve the contractor you select in the very early stages of design and site planning to get the most benefit from their years of experience.
